Delivery Notification is an optional feature that emails the purchaser when their order is marked Delivered. The email confirms what was delivered and reminds them of any balance due. It is turned off by default, so nothing changes until you enable it.
Turning on delivery notifications
- Go to Settings → Orders and the Delivery Notification section.
- Set Delivery Notification Email to Enabled.
- Choose what the email includes (see below), then Save.
Once enabled, these options appear:
- Include Delivery Method — shows the delivery method in the email.
- Include Order Details — shows the itemized list of what was ordered and filled.
- Include Payment Details — shows the order total, amount paid, and balance due.
- Custom Message — optional text shown near the top of the email, such as pickup instructions or a link to your payment portal.
How and when the email is sent
The email is sent when an order is marked delivered from any of these places:
- The order form — the Mark Delivered button in the Delivery box.
- Manage Orders — the Deliver button on an order row.
- Manage Orders bulk action — Mark Delivered & Notify.
A purchaser receives the email only when all of the following are true:
- Delivery Notification is enabled in Settings.
- The order is marked delivered.
- The purchaser has Delivery Notifications on in their profile (on by default).
- The purchaser has a valid email address that has not been flagged for bouncing or spam complaints.
Marking an already-delivered order delivered again sends the email again.
Delivering without sending an email
- Order form: click the small crossed-bell icon section next to Mark Delivered.
- Manage Orders: use the crossed-bell section of the Deliver button.
- Manage Orders bulk action — Mark Delivered (silent).
-
Counter sales never send a delivery notification, because the customer is already there.
Resending the email
On the order form, open More Options and choose Resend Delivery Notification. It becomes available once the order has been delivered. If the purchaser has opted out, the option is disabled.
What the purchaser sees
The email includes:
- A subject and heading naming the order.
- Your custom message, if you set one.
- The delivery method, if Include Delivery Method is on.
- An itemized order table, if Include Order Details is on. Items that weren't fully filled are marked not filled.
- A payment summary, if Include Payment Details is on: either Payment is due with the balance, or Paid in full when nothing is owed.
- A View Order button that opens the purchaser's order history.
- An unsubscribe link.
Letting purchasers opt out
Delivery Notification is a per-user setting, on by default. You or the purchaser can change it in any of these places:
- The purchaser's profile → Email Notification Settings.
- Users → (edit a user) → Delivery Notification toggle.
- Users → bulk edit → Email Preferences — set Delivery Notification to Opt In or Opt Out for every selected user.
-
User import — add an optional
notify_deliverycolumn to your CSV (Yes/No,True/False,1/0). Omit the column and nothing changes.
The unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email opts the purchaser out of both the mailing list and delivery notifications.
Tip. On the order form, an icon appears next to the delivery method when the purchaser has opted out. Marking that order delivered will not email them, and Resend Delivery Notification is disabled.
Bounced or flagged email addresses
If any Scrip Manager email to a purchaser hard-bounces or the recipient marks it as spam, that address is flagged, preventing it from receiving email of any kind — order confirmations and reminders included. This protects your program's sending reputation.
- The flag clears automatically when the address on file is changed to a different one.
- To clear it manually, go to Users → (edit the user). When an address is flagged, an Email Delivery notice appears with a Clear suppression and resume sending to this address checkbox.
A bounce or complaint does not change any mailing list, reminder, or order confirmation settings — only the deliverability flag.
Order history
Marking an order delivered adds an Order Delivered entry to the order's history. When a delivery notification is sent, a Delivery Notification Sent entry is also added, showing the address it was sent to. Both appear in the activity log on the order form.
